Meaning of VAGMI

VAGMI is a Sanskrit word which means an eloquent and knowledgeable person.

Vagmi is one name for Lord Vishnu (#267) in Vishnu Sahasranama. It is also one name of Devguru Brihaspati.

In Ramayana Narada muni describes Shri Rama as Vagmi to Sage Valmiki.

Taittiriya Upanishad

वाङ्‌ मनसि सम्यग्वापि वाङ्मनसि सम्यगुच्चते।

तामाहुः पञ्चभूतेषु शब्दब्रह्मेति तस्मादुच्यते॥

Language is well united with the mind, and the mind is well united with language.

They call it the sound aspect of the five elements; therefore, it is called Shabda Brahman.

वाग्मि

भारते भाषासु विभिन्नेषु धन्यं।

व्यापाराणां वाग्मिनां समृद्धिरुद्यति॥

In Bharat, the land blessed with many languages.
